Prince Louis, the youngest son of Prince William and Princess Catherine, may one day receive the title Duke of York now that Prince Andrew has relinquished it along with its accompanying honors. This title has historically been granted to the monarch’s second son, a tradition that began in the 14th century and has been revived several times throughout royal history.

The title has notable royal heritage. King George VI held it before ascending to the throne in 1936 after the abdication of Edward VIII.
