Democratic strategist James Carville has made a striking prediction, claiming that Donald Trump’s administration is on the verge of collapse and could unravel in just a few weeks.

The well-known political consultant, now 80 years old, believes the White House is heading toward a breaking point due to Trump’s recent decisions. He points to the president’s sinking approval ratings, a wave of mass firings within the government, and a series of highly controversial executive orders signed during his first month in office as key factors driving this looming crisis.

Adding to the turbulence, Trump’s close ally, Elon Musk, is leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in an aggressive effort to slash federal spending—a move that has sparked widespread anxiety across the nation.

Political strategist James Carville warned that recent developments could send the U.S. economy into a downward spiral, potentially pushing some Republicans to break ranks while Democrats simply observe the situation unfold.

During a conversation with Mediaite’s Dan Abrams, Carville advised, “Democrats need to play possum. This whole thing is collapsing.”

He pointed to a poll indicating that Trump’s approval rating had dropped significantly—from the low 50s down to the upper 30s. Carville predicted that within “less than 30 days,” the administration would begin to unravel entirely.

According to him, public sentiment has already shifted, and Trump’s presidency is already caught in the middle of its downfall.

Carville then advised Democrats to stay patient, suggesting that significant political shifts are just around the corner. “Hold your fire,” he urged, predicting that opportunities for victory will come easily in the next six weeks. He reassured his party, “Just lay back. It’s going to happen quickly.”

His remarks come amid criticism from Donald Trump, who recently took aim at Carville for challenging Fox News’ reporting on the president’s approval ratings.

During an appearance on Hannity, Carville had pointed to polling data that suggested Democrats were leading by a significant margin. He asserted, “I’m reading these polls saying the Democrats are 13 points up in the congressional generic, that Donald Trump has the lowest approval rating of any president at this point in his presidency in American history.”

“The Democrats, run by broken down losers like James Carville, whose weak of mind and body, are going crazy, and just don’t know what to do,” Trump wrote. “They have lost their confidence and spirit – They have lost their minds!”
