My Son-in-Law and His Wife Tricked Me and My Husband into Babysitting – So We Gave Them a Taste of Their Own Medicine

Part 1 of 2

When my husband and I pulled up to Tyler’s barbecue, we were expecting a nice meal and quality time with family—not an ambush. Tyler and his wife, Brittany, had set us up. They tricked us into watching their kids. They took advantage of us! But if they thought we’d just go along with it, they were in for a surprise.

My husband and I have been happily married for over two decades. He has a son, Tyler (34M), who’s married to Brittany (32F). We’ve always tried to be there for them, stepping in to help when needed.

But what happened last weekend? That was beyond anything we’d ever experienced.

Tyler and Brittany invited us over for a barbecue, and we gladly accepted. We showed up right on time—only to realize THE PARTY HAD ALREADY ENDED.

Their friends were chatting, laughing, grabbing their belongings, and heading toward the door. And then, as if it were the most natural thing in the world, Tyler turned to us and said, “We’re all heading out. YOU TWO CAN STAY AND WATCH THE KIDS. Oh, and the other guests’ kids too. That makes seven in total.”

Excuse me? WHAT?!

This wasn’t some last-minute mix-up. It was a setup. They had orchestrated the whole thing, deliberately leaving us with a house full of children while they went off to enjoy themselves.

I felt my stomach drop. We had been used.

As soon as they were gone, my husband turned to me. “We shouldn’t just silently accept this.” I nodded.

And then a BRIGHT IDEA struck me. Oh, they were about to learn a lesson they’d never forget! We will teach them the true meaning of respect and appreciation.

We spent the next few hours playing with the children. By half past nine, all seven children were tucked into beds, fast asleep.

At half past ten, I picked up my phone and called Brittany.

I gasped dramatically into the phone. “Brittany! It’s a disaster! You need to come home now!” Then I hung up.

My phone continued to buzz with calls and texts. I ignored them all.

Twenty minutes later, the front door burst open, and Tyler, Brittany, and their friends rushed in.

Brittany looked around frantically. “What happened? Is everyone okay? The kids?”
