Princess Anne’s selfless ‘act’ to mark her 75th birthday

Princess Anne will turn 75 on Friday, August 15, but instead of a lavish celebration, the Princess Royal chose to honour her charities. Back in June, more than 200 representatives of organisations she supports gathered at Buckingham Palace for a special forum.

A source told the Telegraph the decision summed up her character: “She didn’t want to do anything for her birthday but bring her charities together to hear more about their work and how she can help them.” Anne is patron of over 400 organisations and is widely regarded as one of the hardest working royals.

Low-key plans with family

As for the birthday itself, reports suggest Anne will spend the day sailing around western Scotland with her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence. The couple are expected to travel alone, without staff, before possibly joining King Charles at Balmoral later in the summer.

A Royal Mint tribute

To mark the occasion, the Royal Mint has released a new £5 coin approved by Anne herself. It features her portrait and official Coat of Arms, designed by photographer John Swannell. Fans hailed the piece as a fitting tribute, calling the Princess Royal “a shining example of true strength and selfless service.”
