Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have announced that they are leaving Los Angeles

Goldie Hawn, 78, has shared that she’s thinking about leaving Los Angeles and settling down in Palm Desert after experiencing multiple break-ins within just four months.

The actress, famous for starring in films like The First Wives Club, Bird on the Wire, Snatched, Overboard, and Housesitter, has been with her longtime partner Kurt Russell for over four decades.

Having spent most of their careers based in LA, the couple is now reconsidering their living situation due to recent burglaries. Hawn opened up about their future plans while speaking on the SiriusXM podcast Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa.

Recalling the incidents, she explained: “What if we couldn’t live in LA, where would we live? We both decided I think it’s Palm Desert. … It’s so safe. It’s just ’cause LA is terrible. I mean, we were robbed once.”

The Oscar-winning actress shared that she and Russell had been out for about two hours and 20 minutes, only to return home to what initially seemed like a normal scene.

“They completely knocked down my door, which is a safe door, so they’re very, very sophisticated, and they got a lot of my goodies, if you know what I mean.”

Although the experience left her unsettled, the First Wives Club star tried to move on, believing it was just an isolated incident.

“So, I’m thinking, ‘Oh, my God, so the chances are, I guess that’s it,'” she said. “It’s gotta be. The odds are that’s not gonna happen again.”

But just four months later, another break-in occurred—this time while Hawn was at home with only her dog. A sudden, alarming noise from another room made her realize she wasn’t alone.

Goldie Hawn recounted a chilling experience where she heard a loud noise upstairs while she was home alone. “I hear this big thump upstairs — and I was alone; Kurt wasn’t there — and I went, ‘What the hell was that?’ It was just like, was that a sonic boom?” she recalled.

At first, she was puzzled by the sound, but the next day, she discovered something unsettling. “As it turned out, the next day, we discovered that they were trying to get in my bedroom while I was in the house.”

Kelly Ripa, visibly shocked, responded, “That’s terrifying.” Hawn agreed, adding, “I couldn’t believe it. What is happening here?”

When asked if she had taken extra security measures after the incident, Hawn explained, “I’ve had a guard, especially when I’m alone now. I’m never without a guard. We have a nice relationship with our guard.”

Mayor Karen Bass addressed the situation, emphasizing her commitment to public safety: *”My No.1 job is to keep Angelenos safe. During my first year, we have taken urgent action to address the LAPD hiring and retention crisis as well as invested in proven community-led approaches to address crime.

“There is still much more work to do and many Angelenos do not feel safe. Together, we will continue implementing our comprehensive approach to public safety.”*
