“Her Hair Is Looking Unnaturally Healthy”: Kate Middleton Reveals Why She Went Dramatically Blonde

Part 1 of 2

Kate Middleton’s noticeably lighter blonde hair has sparked months of speculation, and now the Princess of Wales has offered a surprisingly simple explanation.

While attending the Royal Variety Performance in London, the 43-year-old royal addressed the topic directly after actress Su Pollard complimented her on the new shade—a look that has drawn even more attention as Kate gradually returns to public life following cancer treatment.

A Low-Key Reason Behind the New Look

Kate’s golden-toned hair has become a frequent topic online, but her explanation was far more casual than royal watchers expected. When Pollard told her, “I like your hair, it looks a lot lighter,” the princess responded with: “It used to be brown, but it’s gone light in the sunshine.”

The understated comment, first reported by the Daily Mail, immediately spread across social media. Many fans accepted the explanation, but some questioned whether the sun alone could have lifted Kate’s naturally dark hair so dramatically, with one online user saying, “Umm, love Princess Kate, but that didn’t come from the sun. And she’s also wearing extensions.”

Kate first appeared with noticeably lighter hair in September during a visit to the Natural History Museum gardens with Prince William. Observers noted the honey-toned shade running through her brunette hair. However, only two days later at the Women’s Rugby World Cup, she appeared with darker strands again, leaving royal watchers guessing what inspired the quick changes.
