In recent years, Madonna has faced numerous health challenges. These issues even forced her to postpone performances when they interfered with her ability to take the stage. In 2023, the pop star was hospitalized due to a severe bacterial infection. The illness was so critical that she was placed in a medically induced coma for 48 hours.
Reflecting on the experience, Madonna shared, “I didn’t think I was going to make it, neither did my doctors. That’s why I woke up with all of my children sitting around me. I forgot five days of my life—or my death. I don’t really know where I was. If you want to know my secret and how I pulled through and how I survived, I thought, ‘I’ve got to be there for my children. I have to survive for them.’”

The singer’s health scare led to the cancellation of the North American leg of her Celebration tour, much to the disappointment of fans.
