King Charles and Queen Camilla dazzled Windsor Castle on November 18 as they welcomed more than 900 ambassadors and high-ranking diplomats for the annual Diplomatic Reception — one of the most prestigious events on the royal calendar.
But while global dignitaries gathered beneath the castle’s glittering chandeliers, one senior royal was noticeably missing: the Princess of Wales.
A Royal Night Without Kate
Princess Kate was absent for the second consecutive year. Earlier that day, she delivered her first public speech in two years at The Future of the Workforce Summit, urging business leaders to prioritise “time and tenderness” in early childhood development — a message warmly received.

Although she has completed chemotherapy and is in remission, the princess continues to scale back public engagements to focus on her health and family. Her last appearance at a Diplomatic Reception was in December 2023, when she captivated the room in a blush-pink Jenny Packham gown and the Lover’s Knot Tiara.
Prince William attended the reception alone, joining the king and queen in representing the family.
