Biles described how she and Owens met in an interview from 2021. In the winter of 2020, Biles broke up with her ex-boyfriend, fellow gymnast Stacey Ervin Jr., after determining that they were headed in separate directions in life.
Later, she found Owens on the dating app Raya, thought he was cute, and sent him a direct message to say “hi.” They began talking once she found out he lived in Houston, and after a week or two they met up and spent time together.
The pair got married right away. Biles posted pictures from their wedding ceremony on April 22, 2023, including them walking to and from their location, exchanging vows with an officiant, and kissing to celebrate.
