The real reason why Prince William can’t step in for Princess Kate at Wimbledon

Part 1 of 2

Prince William may seem like the sensible alternative option for presenting the winning Wimbledon trophy in Kate’s absence, but he may have other pressing duties.

Prince William is unlikely to be Princess Kate’s possible replacement to present the winner’s trophies at Wimbledon 2024, as the Prince has shown he has other important sporting commitments.

Kate’s ongoing cancer treatment has raised questions over whether she will feel well enough to attend for the finals this weekend, and royal fans might expect the Prince of Wales to take his place.

But instead, Prince William, as president of the Football Association, is likely to be cheering on his beloved England in Germany as Gareth Southgate’s team proceed through the tournament.

The EURO final 2024 is to be held at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, Germany, on July 14, and Prince William is likely to be present, with England set to play the Netherlands in the semi-final on July 10 – with every chance the England team could succeed and play for the title and trophy.

This, however, coincides with the final matches of the Wimbledon 2024 categories, which also take place this coming weekend, on July 13 (Women’s Singles) and July 14 (Men’s Singles).

The Prince of Wales nervously watched England play at the Dusseldorf Arena on July 6 in the Quarter-final but was snapped cheering the team with his fists after they scored their nail-biting equaliser in the 80th minute.

Looking smart for the occasion and wearing a navy suit and a football print tie, William congratulated Saka after the Three Lions won against Switzerland in a breathtaking penalty shootout.
