Part 1 of 2

“Don’t eat it! There’s poison in the food!” a homeless boy cried out, but the CEO glared at him in fury. Minutes later, she collapsed at the very table she claimed was safe…

Vivian Cross had built CrossLife Foods, a multibillion-dollar corporation that promised wellness and sustainability in every product. She was powerful, admired, and feared.

That night, she hosted a lavish charity gala in downtown Manhattan. Politicians, influencers, and billionaires praised her as a visionary dedicated to ending hunger around the globe.

Outside the event center, a thin 12-year-old boy named Jaden lingered near the loading dock. Wearing a worn-out jacket, he collected discarded bottles.

He watched as caterers brought in silver trays of food.

Earlier that day, he had seen a kitchen employee arguing violently with another man, shouting about revenge.

When Jaden got closer to the kitchen, he saw it: a man nervously pouring something from a vial into a tray of roasted vegetables. His heart dropped. Poison.

He sprinted inside. Security blocked him instantly. “Back off, kid!”

But Jaden pushed past them. As Vivian Cross stood raising a glass to welcome her guests, he rushed to her table and yelled, “Don’t eat the food! They put poison in it!”

Every eye turned to him. Cameras flashed. Vivian’s expression hardened. “Remove this child,” she snapped.

“Please—the vegetables!” he tried again. But the guards dragged him away while guests whispered.

Vivian scoffed. “This is nonsense.” She lifted her fork and took a bite in front of everyone, proving her point.

Ten minutes later, she grew pale. Her throat tightened. She collapsed across the table as panic exploded in the room.

Guests screamed. Paramedics rushed in. From the doorway, Jaden watched, frozen.

The next morning, headlines dominated the news: “Billionaire CEO Poisoned at Charity Gala.” Vivian was in critical condition. Authorities launched an investigation, but the boy who had warned her was gone.

Detective Aaron Blake took charge. Reviewing footage, he spotted a former CrossLife employee named Glenn Parker near the food trays.
